Psalms 67 Commentary

(67:2) Share the Gospel - Could the psalm writer have looked across the years to see the gospel go throughout the earth? This psalm surely speaks of the fulfillment of the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20), when Jesus commanded that the gospel be taken to all nations. Count yourself among that great crowd of believers worldwide who know the Savior, praise him for the Good News, and share that gospel so that the harvest will be abundant.

(67:7) God Speaks To You - Every verse in this psalm mentions God's relationship with the entire globe. The intended audience of this message spans the world. God repeatedly spoke to and through his people about his love for all nations. Read this psalm with the realization that it was written for and about you!

Dave Burnette's Life Application

Our Joy

Each day, we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter, making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today, we continue in the Book of Psalms with Chapter 67. In our text today, we see a theme of the joy that comes from spreading the Word of God around the World. In making application, we see that our joy comes from spreading the Gospel. When our spirit bears witness to the Spirit of God in us, we experience the Joy the Psalmist speaks of in this text. How about you? Are you lacking the Joy of the Lord in your life? Let us learn from our Psalm and text today to remember that our joy comes from bearing witness to the Spirit of God in us, which causes us to share our faith with others.

Psalm 67

Psalm 67

1God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.

2That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

3Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

4O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

5Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

6Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

7God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
