Teaching: True RepentanceEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 26. In our text today we see David again with the opportunity
to kill Saul but didn't end his life. In response Saul acknowledged his wrong doing but failed to repent or turn from his
wrong decisions repairing this relationship. In making application we see the difference from acknowledgement and repentance.
Many today acknowledge their sin but don't repent. In an empty prayer they believe they have gained a ticket to Heaven but
the Bible is clear that if a Soul fails to repent unto Christ in true repentance they will fail to have their sins forgiven
by a Holy God. It is not A-B-C repeat after me but rather a soul walking in a sinful path, being convicted of a Holy God,
then turning from that sin to receive the forgiveness Christ paid on Calvary. How about you? Have you repented unto salvation
or have you just acknowledged you sinner? Let us learn from our text today and the life of Saul to remember that acknowledgement
is not repentance. In our lives it takes repentance of our sin to Jesus-Christ receive forgiveness of our sin and true salvation.

Teaching: An Ungrateful Heart Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 25. In our text today we see Samuel passing away and
Nabal's rudeness towards David. Fortunately Nabal has a Godly wife, Abigail, who interceded for him. Nabal did not appreciate
his wife and dies and we see David wedding Abigail. In making application we see the principle of not appreciating the blessings
of God. David protected Nabal and allowed him to be prosperous and Nabal has an ungrateful heart and denied David's men and
he did not love or appreciate his wife. Many today have an ungrateful heart. They take advantage of the blessings of God and
as a result they tend to loose everything. I have had an ungrateful heart at times to see the Lord remove his hand from the
blessings of my life. I hope I have learned my lesson and now take every day as blessing of the Lord. How about you? Do you
have an ungrateful heart? Let us learn from our text today and the example that Nabal set before us and don't have his ungrateful
heart lest we too loose it all.

Teaching: Forgiveness Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 24. In our text today we see David sparing Saul's life
when he could have easly killed him. The tables turned on Saul and David could have killed him but chose to forgive Saul.
In making application we see power of forgiveness. God blessed David for His forgiveness and respecting the person and position
of Saul. Today we too will be blessed as we forgive others as God will bless you. Many health benefits have been linked to
this act of forgiveness but the simple fact is that God did not make us to carry the burden of unforgiveness as it turns into
bitterness. How about you? Do you forgive others as God has forgiven you? Let us learn from today's text and the life of David
to forgive others and be blessed of the Lord.

Teaching: Let the Lord Fight Your BattlesEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 23. In our text today we see Saul chasing David in a jealous
rage. In making application we see that we will face adversaries in our Christian life and many times it will be just because
the Lord is with you. It is easy to respond in our flesh but as we will see we are to respond as the Lord would have us respond
It reminds me of instances in my life where people have lashed out at me for just being a Christian. I learned the same lesson
to not respond in my flesh but rather have faith and let the Lord fight my battles. How about you? Do you respond in the Lord
when you face adversaries? Let us learn from our text today having faith to let the Lord fight our battles.

Teaching: Bad things happen to good People Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
22. In our text today we see Saul executing the priests. In making application we see that bad things happen to good people.
It was not their fault that they fell and as we read the story we see that justice comes Saul's way. In our lives we see the
same trend happening as it seems as if bad people are getting away with their sinful ways but the truth is that He is in controls
it all and sees that all come to justice. How about you? Do you see that the Lord is in ultimate control? Let us learn from
our text today that bad things happen to good people but the Lord is in ultimate control.

Teaching: Bread in the House of the LordEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 21. In our
text today we see David asking for and receiving Holy Bread as he is pursued by Saul. Many applications can be made from each
day's text but what catches my eye today is how David found nourishment at the House of God. In making application I see a
principle of receiving earthy food and spiritual food from the House of God. When we face trials and temptations we too should
go to the Lords house for nourishment. How about you? Do you see the need to go to His House when faced with a need? Let us
learn from our text today as David examples for us to Seek not only Physical but also Spiritual Bread in the House of the
Lord.

Teaching: Seek the Lord for Life's Direction Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
20. In our text today we see Jonathan saving David's life by working with him to escape from Saul. Many applications can be
made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is How when David and Jonathan were faced with this problem that they
sought the Lord for wisdom. In making application I see a great principle to remember for our lives. When faced with opposition
or a problem we are to seek the Lord in Prayer to give us wisdom and direction. The Lord is working in our lives and He will
guide us through the rough places. How about you? Do you seek the Lord when faced with opposition or a decision? In our text
today we see that this course of action saved David's life and if we are wise we too will seek the Lord for life's direction.

Teaching: The Lord Provides Our Victory Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
19. In our text today we see David escaping from Saul. Many applications can be made from each day's text but what catches
my eye today is How David is able to escape from Saul due to the people God places in his life. In making application we see
how the Lord protects us from the enemies. Our Lord engineers circumstances and place people in our lives to escape our enemies.
The Bible goes on to say in a later text that no weapon formed against us should prosper. We need to remember that the Lord
is in control and to trust Him in the battle and he will give us a way of escape and ultimate victory. How about you? Are
you facing a battle? Let us learn from our text today and look for those people and circumstances that the Lord places in
our lives to give us victory.

Teaching: Stay Humble Before the LordEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 18. In our
text today we see Saul becoming jealous of David and him killing 200 Philistines as a dowry. Many applications can be made
from each day's text but what catches my eye today is How Saul becomes so Jealous of David. The root of his problem is pride.
In making application we see an example of what the seed of pride can produce. In the chapters ahead we will see the extent
of Saul's jealous rage. We see this almost weekly on the news as a jealous rage comes to tragic end. The key to avoid this
is to acknowledge Jesus as Lord and stay humble before him even as David did in our text today. How about you? Are you humble
before the Lord? Let us learn from our text today to avoid jealousy by being humble before our Lord.

Teaching: The Lord Prepares Us for Service Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
17. In our text today we see the familiar story of David and Goliath. Many applications can be made from each day's text but
what catches my eye today is How the Lord was with David in the face of this battle where it appeared that he was overmatched.
The Lord has prepared David all his life for this battle teaching him how to sling the stone as shepherd boy. In making application
we see the Lord preparing us today for tomorrows victories. You might think that Lord has forgotten you in your day to day
activities but the truth is that He is preparing you with skills and abilities to be used in a mighty way. It reminds me of
of when the Lord called me into ministry. I taught the Bible on a local radio station on Sunday afternoons for about a year.
In all the time I never heard a comment from anyone who would have listened but what I didn't understand is that the Lord
was preparing me for the Bible teaching I do to this day. How about you? Do you see the Lord preparing you for service through
the small details of your life? Let us learn from out text today and the victory of David to remind us that the Lord is preparing
us for service.

The Lord Looketh Upon the HeartEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 16. In our
text today we see Samuel anointing David as King even as Saul sits on the throne and in God's plan David joins Saul's staff.
Many applications can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is when
the Lord chose David the least physically of Jesse's sons. When the Lord instructed Samuel of His Choice He told him that
man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. The heart of a man is one of his most enduring traits
as it motives him to do great things. Today man spends countless dollars improving the outward appearance of himself while
he should be spending time in the Lord's Word yielding his heart to its teachings. How about you? Do you focus on the outer
man or the inner man? Let us learn from our text today and be reminded that man looks on the outer man but the Lord looks
upon the heart.

It is better to obey than to sacrifice Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
15. In our text today we see Saul disobeying God by keeping the goods gained from the Amalekites and Saul pleading for forgiveness
for his mistake. Many applications can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is Saul and his lack of obedience to the Lord in keeping the spoils instead of destroying them as instructed. Saul thought
he could do what he wanted and give the Lord an offering to make up for his disobedient decision. In making application we
see out tendency to do the same and instead of obeying the Lord we think we can bargain with God and do things our own way.
Verse 22 says it the best "to obey is better than sacrifice." How about you? Do you obey God or try to bargain with
God? Let us learn from today's text and remember it is better to obey than to sacrifice.

Our Foolish Decisions Affect Others Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
14. In our text today we see Jonathan's brave new plan, Saul's foolish vow, and Saul's military successes. Many applications
can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is another negative trait
of Saul - His foolish vow - this promise he engaged in affected his men and his army causing them to sin. This promise was
made spontaneously without any thought and as a result placed others in place of failure. In making application we see the
responsibility of making vows or promises in our own lives. As adults and parents our decisions affect our children and families.
I have seen this in so many lives being in the Ministry. Children suffering at the hands of a parent making wrong choices.
The truth is that any of our wrong decisions affect others in some way. How about you? Have you made decisions that affect
your family resulting in a negative outcome? Let us learn from our text today and the mistakes of Saul to not make foolish
vows or decisions that affect others we love.

Obey the Lord by Obeying His WordEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 13. In our
text today Saul disobeys God by wrongly making a sacrifice. Many applications can be made from each day's text but what catches
my eye today is a prideful Saul's lack of patience in waiting for the Lord and taking
the sacrifice in own hands. This act of not waiting to do things the Lords way again brings judgement to Saul. In making application,
we too can take the will of the Lord into our own hands, disobeying the Word of God. Then making decisions that are against
God's will that will ultimately bring judgement in our lives. I see this in so many lives, people marrying the wrong person,
poor financial decisions, poor career paths, etc.. because they don't obey the Lord - by waiting on the Lord. The simple truth
is that if your decision is contrary to the Word of God it is a wrong decision. How about you? Do you tend to not wait on
the Lord doing things contrary to His Word? Let us learn from our text today and the life of Saul to Obey the Lord by Obeying
His Word.

A Teaching JudgementEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 12. In our
text today Samuel reminds the people of the Blessings of God and God sends judgement on Israel with rain. Many applications
can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is the Judgement God sent
in verse 16. It was only a matter of time before God judged Israel on their decision for a King. It was when the people realized
what they had done till God sent the rain. He did not destroy them as in the flood but rather reminded Israel of the sinful
decision they made, then sending the rain to teach them a lesson. In making application we see the Lord doing the same to
us today. When we willfully sin the Lord brings us to place of repentance, then sends judgement, with the goal of humbling
us and teaching us a lesson. How about you? Do you see the Lord teaching you through His Judgement? Let us learn from our
text today that the Lord will teach us and uses His Judgement to accomplish this task..

A Positive AngerEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 11. In our
text today Saul defeats the Ammonite Army. Many applications can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today
is the Anger that motivates Saul to victory in verse 6. In making application we see
a positive application of anger. To be mad at sin, the enemy, and those who promote sin in our lives. When we see the fruit
of sin in the lives of others we should allow our anger to motivate us to rebuke sin speaking out on sin and those who promote
it. For Example: You never see a beer commercial promoting a fatal drunk driver homicide or a damaged liver causing the premature
death of its consumer. Seeing this we should be angry and speak on this product and producer instead of looking the other
way. The sin of alcohol is just one of many we should be speaking out on. How about you? Do you get angry at sin and use your
anger to motivate you to speak out on its injustice. Let us learn from our text today and the Anger of Saul that should motivate
us to speak out on sin.

Pride Cometh Before a FallEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 10. In our
text today Samuel anoints Saul to be King and the people accept Saul as King. Many applications can be made from each day's
text but what catches my eye today is how Saul was anointed and filled with the Spirit
of God when taking this position. This transitioned into His pride to a point where God's removed His Spirit from Him. In
making application to our lives we see the principle of pride coming before a fall. We too are blessed of the Lord when we
humble ourselves and abide to God's Word. It is His Spirit that provides our blessings and if we are not careful we will follow
the pattern of Saul believing we did the work verses the truth of us receiving the blessings of God. How about you? Do you
see yourself taking credit for God blessing your life? Let us learn from our text today and realize our blessings come from
God and Pride cometh before a fall.

Divine AppointmentsEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 9. Many applications
can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is how God uses common occurrences to teach us life's lessons.
We see this in our story with Saul who has a "divine appointment" with God which shapes his life. In making application
we see how God takes situations in our lives to place us in a position to serve and grow in the Lord. It reminds me of a flat
tire we had on our trip to see a friend in the hospital. We broke down right besides a gas station by a busy intersection
where a man stayed to help travelers in need. He offered to fix our tire and we were able to give him a Bible and share the
Gospel with him. It was one of those "divine appointments" just as we see Saul have in our text today. How about
you? Do you see the divine appointments he puts in your life each day? Let us learn from our text today to look for the divine
appointments of our Lord.

Be Carful what you ask forEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 8. Many applications
can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is the repeated request of the people for a King knowing it
was against the will of God. In this passage After asking God gave them over to their request. Over the next 450 years they
had 41 kings of which only 11 followed God during their reign. In making application
we see a principle we need to be aware of today. Knowing God's Word we ask for things in contrast to His Will. Many principles
are clearly outlined in Bible -Taking on Debt, Marring a non-Christian, Gambling, etc.- are all against the Word of God yet
we pray for the Lord to grant these requests. The Lord protects us at first but after we ignore His Word he gives us over
to our sinful Choices. He never leaves us and will there for us but we do suffer the results of our decisions. How about You?
Do you ask for, or make decisions contrary to the World of God? Let us learn from Israel and our text today to be careful
what we ask for or might just receive the fruit of our wrong choices.

EbenezerEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 7. Many applications
can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is after the Lord gave victory over the Philistines he placed
a stone with the inscription of "Ebenezer" which means "Hitherto hath the Lord helped us" In making application
we see the need remember what God has done for us. We should make our own "Ebenezer" stone remembering what God
has done. Our Church has a homecoming service each year that we call our Ebenezer Service and remember what God has done for
us. How about you? Do you remember the blessings of God in your life? Let us learn from our text today. embracing Ebenezer,

Reverencing the Lord Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter
6. Many applications can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is the Lord smote over 50,000 as a result
of the Philistines looking inside the Ark. The Ark housed the Spirit of God and it was Holy. In making application we see
the truth of serving a Holy God. This Holy God Loves You but this Holy God must also judge sin. As the Philistines found out
with our text today ignoring this fact produces grave results. How about you? Do you reverence the God of the Bible as a Holy
God? Let us learn from our text today to reverence our Holy God.

Lord of AllEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 5. Many applications
can be made from each day's text but what catches my eye today is the attempt of the Philistines to gain power from capturing
the Ark of the Covenant. They believed in many Gods and thought they could add the Ark to their God's much to their dismay.
In making application we see the same happening today. In a time when it is politically correct to be a "Christian"
we see some go to Church an make a profession and attempt to "add God" to their many gods of world like money, power,
fame, etc. They don't understand that the God of the Bible is Lord of all and to receive Him means giving Him your whole heart
and life. We do this through confession and repentance of our sins by placing our trust in the finished work of Calvary. When
we are saved He is Lord of All. How about you? Is Jesus your Lord and Savior or just an empty profession? Let us examine ourselves,
learning from our text today and its lesson that to be truly saved Jesus must be Lord of All.

Christ AloneEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text but
what catches my eye today in the book of 1st Samuel chapter 4 is Israel worshiping the Ark of the Covenant as an Idol verses
the God of Israel and the God of this Ark of the Covenant. In making application I see people doing the same today. Some people
worship the things of God - wether it be Church Membership, Baptism, Communion, Church Traditions, etc... instead of the God
of these things that give glory to God. These people put their eternal security in a work or ritual they do verses true salvation
that comes through Jesus-Christ and Christ alone. It reminds me of a missionary who went to a town up north that did not have
a true Gospel witness. He went door to door sharing the Gospel asking them if they would go to Heaven when the died and every
one told him, "yes were baptized", The only Church in that town told them if they did the ritual of baptism that
they would go to heaven but the truth is it takes your repentance of sin and faith in what Christ did at Calvary to have an
eternal home in Heaven. How about you? Are you trusting in Christ Alone for your Salvation? Let us learn from our text today
and how the Israelites handled the Ark of the Covenant to see that our Salvation comes from Christ Alone.

The Lord's Calling Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today in the book of 1st Samuel chapter
3 we see God calling Samuel to serve Him. In this we see the calling of the Lord to be a definite act that rose Samuel several
times until he knew it was God. In making application we see the Lord still calling His children to service. Today He uses
the Holy Spirit to bid us through His Word. It reminds me of when the Lord called me into His Service. I heard this voice
as Samuel did as a impression of the Holy Spirt that was confirmed to me in Isaiah 61 to which I surrendered being under a
heavy conviction. How about you? Is the Lord calling you into His service? If so it will be as Samuel and be a definite calling
and will be confirmed in His Word? Let us learn from todays text and the life of Samuel to acknowledge the calling of the

Winning our Children to the Lord Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today in the book of 1st Samuel chapter
2 we see Hannah's response to the Lord answering her prayer of giving her a son, Samuel, in this she fulfills her promise
to God, and offers prayers of thanks. As a result we see the heart of the child Samuel bent to the Lord. In making application
we see the fruit of a parent whose heart and actions are dedicated to the Lord. A child whose heart is bent to the Lord. I
have seen this in my own life as my children have a heart that is bent toward the Lord from them seeing us serve the Lord
and them seeing that the Lord is real. How about you? Do you set the example in your relationship with the Lord before the

A Lord or a King? Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we start a new book of 1st Samuel. In this book
we see the transition of the days of judges where Israel was led by God (Theocracy) to a nation who placed their trust in
Kings (Monarchy). In making application we see times have not changed. Our nation has moved from a trust in God to a nation
who places their trust and dependence in a President and Government. As we enter a Presidential election we see our nation
in a bitter debate over presidential candidates verses a Nation who needs to repent and cry out to God to heal their land.
As the Lord judged Israel and let them reap the harvest of their decision, God will do the same with us. How about you? Are
you placing your trust in a Government or President? Let us learn from todays text and repent, placing our trust in the Lord.

God's Plan for Your Life Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today in Ruth Chapter 4 we come to
end of this great book. We see the marriage of Ruth and Boaz leading to the decedents of Boaz and Ruth which includes our
Lord Jesus in future generations. In looking at the life of Ruth at the beginning of this book it would seem that God had
left her but the truth is that God had a plan for her life which included being in the genealogy of Christ. In making application
we see that God has a plan for our life. His plan may seem to take us into dark places but the Lord is in control and we may
not see where we are going but the Lord does and He will deliver us if we don't quit. How about you? Do you see how the Lord
has a plan for your life despite your circumstances? Let us learn from our text today and remember that the Lord has a wonderful
