Teaching: Our Sin Effects the Ones We LoveEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 21. In our
text today we see the later days of David's rule and the execution of Saul's sons while the Giants are killed by David's men.
In making application we see how the sons of Saul were held accountable for the sins of their father. Today we see the principle
continuing as sons and daughters of sinners tend to suffer the sins of the parents. Now everyone is accountable for his or
her sin but as parents we need to realize that our sin affects the ones we love the most, our families. Children of sinful
parents are more likely to commit the same sin as it is example before them. How about you? Do you see how your sin affects
you family? Let us learn from our text today and the life of Saul to remember how Sin effects the ones we love.

Teaching: One Nation Under God Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 20.
In our text today we see SHeba rebeling against David and a divided nation. In making application we see the need to have
one nation under God. A devided nation has weakness and is more vunerable to attack. Today we have a nation that is divided
on Godly princaples. We must come together as a nation and remember the God that this nation was birthed by God and if we
divate from God we will loose God's blessin and protection. How about you? Do you see the U.S.A as a nation under God? Let
us learn from our text today and the example of the nation of Isreal to again become one Nation under God.

Teaching: A State of DenialEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 19. In our
text today we see Joab scolding David and David returning to Jerusalem to take his position back. In making application we
see the importance of acknowledging the Lord working in our lives. Today many live in a "state of denial" of what
is going on in their lives. I have met people who deny being a sinner and have convinced themselves that their is no sin and
no sinners. The reality is that there is a God, He is Holy, we do Sin, and we are all Sinners in a need of a Savior. It seems
they have brainwashed themselves into believing their own lies. It reminds me of my little girl who played hide and seek and
believed that when she closed here eyes she turned invisible. My daughter believed her own thoughts and so did David and so
do many today but the only problem is it was not reality. How about you? Do you belive your own thoughts over reality? Let
us learn from our text today and the life of David to avoid living in a State of Denial.

teaching: Learn to Apply the Scriptures Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 18.
In our text today we see Joab killing Absalom and David morning his death. David is a very popular Bible character because
of how his life parallels ours. He has victories, defeats, makes mistakes, and suffers the consequences of his sin - all with
the heart for the Lord. In making application we see a life we can truly apply to our lives. The positives of true faith and
victory in the Lord, to the negatives of sin, handling it incorrectly, and suffering the consequences of his decision. If
we are wise we will learn from the life of David and avoid the pitfalls of making his poor decisions. How about you? Do you
see the life of David as a roadmap that you can apply to your life? Let us learn from the life of David to see the need to
apply the scriptures.

teaching: Seek Godly CounselEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 17. In our
text today we see Absalom following bad advice that will ultimately end in his death in the chapter ahead. In making application
we see the result of following ungodly counsel. Absalom did not follow the Lord and as a result he listened to those who did
not acknowledge the Lord. Today many do the same. Lost people listening to other lost people making poor decisions. It reminds
me of my Dad when he strayed from the Lord and made friends with ungodly men who gave him bad advice that cost him all of
his money. He told me later in life to watch out who you make friends with for they will lead you down the wrong path without
you even realizing it at the time. How about you? Do you take the advise of ungodly men? Let us learn from our text today
and the life of Absalom to seek Godly Counsel.

teaching: Teach Your Children of the LordEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 16. In our text today we see the Ziba joining David, Shimel cursing
David, and Absalom seizing the throne. In making application we see the unrestrained, undisciplined Absalom continuing to
run free with no respect or acknowledgement of authority or God. This will ultimately will be the destruction of Absalom to
the dismay of David. See David loved Absalom but failed to teach and instill the things of God which led to his disregard
to God or any authority. Today many parents are busy and fail to teach and discipline them in the things of the Lord. This
produces children like Absalom and unfortunately their lives end up in destruction too. How about you? Do you see the path
of destruction that is laid by failing to teach and train our children? Let us learn from our text today and the example David
set for Absalom to remember to teach our children the things of the Lord.

Teaching: Sins Long Lasting ConsequencesEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 15. In our text today we see the National rebellion against David
as Absalom plots to overthrow David with David having to flee from Absalom. In making application we see how the sin that
we fail to deal with will come back to us. As we see David's sin with Bath-sheba progressing to murder of her husband the
progression to the death of his infant, rape of his daughter by his son, to have his other son murder him, and now Absalom
flee to come back to try to overthrow David. No doubt that David loved the Lord and looking back if could have seen the lasting
affects of sin he would have thought twice on his decision. Today many fail to have a hatred of sin as they commit them but
if they see into the future they would see the destructive path it leaves they would stay far from it lure. Yes the Lord does
forgive but the lasting affects of sin are with us a lifetime. How about you? Do you see the last affects of our sin? Let
us learn from text today and the life of David to stay far from sin unless we see its consequences follow us all the days
of our lives.

Teaching: Godly Discipline Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 14. In our text today we see a women of Tekoah intercedes
for Absalom wanting to see David. In making application we see the fruit of a disobedient child. David in the midst of his
sin failed to discipline his children. Amnon and Absalom committed sins to have David overlook them. As a result the unrestrained
children led an ungodly life. Today we see the same principle as husbands fail to discipline their children and as result
they lead ungodly lives. I have counseled many in prison that have one constant factor. The lack of a father who disciplined
them. How about you? Do you see the need to discipline their children? Let us learn from our text today and the example that
set before us by David to give our children Godly discipline.

Teaching: Sin Stays Longer than We Want it to StayEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 13. In our text today we see the sin of David continuing in his
house as his son Amnon rapes his sister Tamar and in hearing this their brother Absalom murders Amnon. In making application
we see how sin stays longer than we want it to stay. The sin of David has now stayed longer in his household than he would
have ever imagined. Today many see sin and consequences as a trade off but the truth is that our sin affects others. Directly
or indirectly our sin will end up hurting those we love. How about you? Do you see the lingering affects of sin. Let us learn
from our text today remembering David and how sin stays longer that we want it to stay.

Teaching: Sin Costs Us More than We Want to PayEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 12. In our text today we see the price of David's sin. Nathan
calls out David on his sin and then David and Bath-sheba's baby dies. In making application we se that sin costs us far more
than we want to pay. No doubt looking back if David could have seen the price he would have to pay he would have never sinned.
The enemy always paints a pretty picture when he tempts us but the truth is if we would consider the cost we would not cross
over the line and sin. How about you? Are you contemplating a sin that you think you could afford to commit? Let us learn
from our text today and the life of David to be reminded that Sin always cost us more than we are willing to pay.

Teaching: Your Sin will Find You Out Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 11. In our text today we see the familiar story of David
and Bath-sheba and his sin that cost Uriah his life and many heartaches for David. In making application we see how sin will
find you out, David thought he could get away with his sin and each step of attempt to cover it up his sin cost him more and
more. Today many follow this same pattern as they sin and think they maneuver their way out but a person's sin will always
find you out? How about you? Do you see that we cannot cover up our sin? Let us learn from the life of David to remember that
our sin will find us out.

Teaching: UnityEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 10. In our text today we see David Defeating the Syrians. What
catches my eye is the unity that is exhibited in the army of David with Joab as he communicated and directed his men to work
together although they were split in 2 sections. In making application we see the value for the Church to work together even
though their are many separate Ministries in a Church. Unity is a key component for success in the Church. How about you?
Are you working within the framework of your Church to add to the Unity of the Body? Let us learn from our text today working
together in Unity.

Teaching: The Kings Table Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our
text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 9. In our text today we see David being kind to
Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan and grandson to the former King Saul. Yesterday we reflected on how God keeps his promises
and today we see how David keeps his vow in taking care of the descendents of the King. In making application we see how God
takes care of us. Every saved individual is indwelt with the Spirit of God and is an adopted child of the King of Kings and
the Lord of Lords. Just as Mephibosheth, we too, are taken care of by our Lord. We need not worry about our needs for we too
will eat at the Kings table all the days of our life. How about you? If you are saved, do you see that you are child of the
King and that you will taken care of by our Lord and King Jesus? Let us learn from our text today and the life of Mephibosheth

Teaching: God Keeps His Promises Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 8. In our text today we see David concurring the surrounding
nations as Israel's enemies are defeated. What catches my eye the covenant that God gave with David that their enemies would
be placed under control. In making application we see that a covenant is simply a promise and God has given us several promises
in the Bible. Many are conditional on our actions but the Lord keeps his promises 100% of the time. How about you? Do you
realize the promises of the Bible and that God keeps His promises 100% of the time? Let us learn from our text today being
reminded that the Lord keeps His promises.

Teaching: Embrace Your BibleEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 7. In our text today we see God promising an eternal blessing
to David and his prayer of acceptance. What catches my eye is the mention of Nathan a prophet of God. A prophet is one who
communicated God's message to the people and the Kings. Today we have the completed Bible which contains God's complete revelation
to man. We have Preachers and Pastors who expound upon God's message for us along with the Holy Spirt of God that guides us
to all truth that is contained in our Bible. In making application we see the importance to read and study the Bible. Plus
the importance to assemble ourselves together in Church to have the Scriptures divided accurately and to connect with the
Spirit of God that indwells the believer to guide us in our daily walk with the Lord. How about you? Do you see the importance
in Reading and Studying the Bible plus the importance of Church attendance? Let us learn from our text today and God's way
to communicate His Words to us by embracing our Bible.

Teaching: The Wrath of God Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 6. In our text today we see David bringing the Ark of
the Covenant to Jerusalem. What catches my eye is Uzzah touching the Ark, which was forbidden, and the Lord smote him. In
making application we see that God is a Holy God. He does judge sin and His judgement is swift and just. Today we live in
the Church Age which is a day of grace. God is holding his wrath because of what Christ did and your opportunity for Salvation.
When death comes to your door you will experience the same wrath that Uzzah did in our text today. The good news is that those
who have been saved will escape the judgement of God to spend eternity with Jesus our saviour. How about you? Have you escaped
the wrath of God through your Salvation of Christ? Let us learn from our text today and be reminded that God is just and He
does judge sin and the sinner.

Teaching: The Lord Protects Israel Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 5. In our text today we see David becoming the King of
all Israel conquering Jerusalem and defeating the Philistines. In making application we see how the Lord brings his people
together and unifies the Jewish race giving them victory over their enemies who occupied the land God gave them. Today other
enemies of God are still waging war on Israel but God keeps His promises and will defeat the enemies of God. America over
the last few years has distanced itself from God and I pray that it does not forget this principle of the Word of God. Our
Lord blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel. How about you? Do you see the importance of this principle
of the Word of God? Let us learn from our text today to understand that the Lord protects Israel and we as a nation are either
with the God or Against Him.

Teaching: The Sword Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 4. In our text today we see Rechab and Baanah go and
kill Ish-bosheth seeking a reward from David. In the end David puts them to death for their action of shedding his blood in
his sleep. In making application we see the result of living by sword you end up dying by the sword. Today many of our young
people choose the brotherhood of gangs and live by the same code as the 2 in our text today. A life of violence will, in most
cases, end in violence. In counseling some that have gone down this path the ones that survive cannot live with the guilt
of the violent things they have done. How about you? Do you know any young folks who may choose gangs as a lifestyle to get
their needs met? Let us reach out to those who would be venerable to a life of violence and apply our text today to warn them
that those who live by the sword will die by the sword.

Teaching: Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by
chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 3. In our text
today we see David becoming a stronger leader, Abner negotiating with David, and Joab killing Abner. In making application
we see the tragic consequences of Revenge. Abner had killed Joab's brother in battle and as a result Joab kills Abner a friend
of David. This action had consequences as Joab lost his friendship and position in David's Army. In life today we see the
same results of revenge. Powered by bitterness we see revenge has no winners. The Lord says that when we are wronged we are
to turn the other cheek. The Lord is just and will deal with those who wrong us. Our revenge causes the Lord to deal with
us on our sin. How about you? Do you struggle with taking revenge on others? Don't take matters in your own hands, Stay far
away from Revenge and let the Lord fight you battles.

Teaching: The Lord Keeps His PromisesEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue in 2nd Samuel chapter 2. In our text today we see David crowned as King by Judah and
Abner crowning Ish-boseth, Saul's Son, as King and Israel is split and a civil war begins. What catches my eye is David being
named King just as the Lord said that He would. After any tests and turns we see the promise of God coming to pass. In making
application we see a principle of the Lord keeping His promises. It may seem that the Lord has forgotten you in your situation
but our God keeps his promises. We have many promises in the Scriptures. Some are conditional on our obedience but if the
Lord says it - You can rest assured that He will do it. It reminds me of several times He has shown me a promise in His Word
to me seeing it come to pass in the Lords perfect timing. How about you? Do you have faith that the Lord will do what He says?
Let us learn from our text today and the Life of David to realize that the Lord keeps His Promises.

Teaching: Respect God's ManEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by
chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Today we start in 2nd Samuel chapter 1. In our text
today we see the David morning for Saul and Jonathan and his song for the man who hunted to kill him in the wilderness. In
making application we see that David had great respect and faith for God and God's Anointed, Saul. David could have killed
Saul in self defense but his love of God caused him to respect God's Man even when he acted in an ungodly manor. Today we
have the Church and a Pastor as leader of the flock. Your Pastor is anointed of God to do the work the Lord has called him
to perform. The Pastor has a set of criteria in the Bible to follow and if he does your Pastor deserves the same amount of
respect that David gave Saul. Pastor's aren't perfect but as long as follow Biblical principals we should follow their direction
as the Lord directs them. How about you? Do you respect and follow your Pastor? Let us learn from our text today and the life
of David to respect the Lord's Anointed so they can instruct us in the Lord.

Teaching: An Empty LifeEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 31. In our text today we see the death of Saul and his sons.
What catches my eye is looking at the life of Saul. A man who had everything on the outside (looks, wealth, fame, etc.) but
had little on the inside (lack of Godliness) In making application we see many lives that follow this same direction. Focusing
on the outward man they lead empty lives that end just as empty. The truth is a life without Christ is a empty life. It reminds
me of a story I read of a football player that had it all on the outside but on the inside was empty and ended his life. He
didn't see the value in the life that Christ died on the Cross to forgive his sin and give him life that is fulfilling and
full. How about you? Is your life full as God created it to be? I can testify that a life with Christ is much better than
a life without. If you have never received this fulfilling love of the savior let me encourage you to seek Him and His Salvation.

Teaching: Too Soon to QuitEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 30. In our text today we see David destroying the Amalekites
after they first attack David's camp. What catches my eye today is verse 6 when David, "Encouraged himself in the Lord."
After is seemed to have everything and everyone against him, David started praising the Lord. In making application we see
how to respond when things don't go our way. We should look toward the Lord and encourage ourselves in Him. It is the Lord
that grants us victory and it would be just as easy from the start. A friend of mine would always say that it is always to
soon to quit and how true that is when we serve such a awesome all powerful God. How about you? Do you encouraged yourself
in the Lord when you face adversity? Let us learn from our text today and the life of David to remember to encourage ourselves
in the Lord when facing adversity and that is is always to soon to quit.

Teaching: Our Enemies Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 29. In our text today we see the Philistines starting
to distrust David. What catches my eye is the delay in the awareness of Philistines of this one who had caused them so much
trouble. In making application we see how the Lord is in control of our enemies. It was if they didn't realize the David was
among them. It reminds me of a missionary to communist China years ago that was smuggling in Bibles into the country which
was a offence that, at the time, could have landed him in prison. He told me of how the guards searched every bag but his
as he loaded the train. He said it was if they didn't even see him as he walked through their line. The Lord kept the eyes
of the guards closed and unaware of Missionary. How about you? Do you understand that the Lord can keep blind the awareness
of your enemies? Let us learn from our text today and life of David to understand the Lord can protect us from our enemies.

Teaching: A Change of HeartEach day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help
us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 28. In our text today we see Saul consulting a witch for direction
although he had banned them as instructed by the Lord in past days. In our text the the Lord has left him due to his wrong
choices and we see Saul going back to this sin of consulting witches. In making application we see a principal of obedience
without having a change of heart. Although Saul obeyed the Lord removing the Mediums he did not change his heart in agreeing
with God that it was wrong. I see this in my kids as I instruct them not to do things and they obey but when I am not around
they do what they are warned to avoid. The problem was the same as Saul's, there heart was not changed. Being obedient to
our Lord is important but having the heartbeat of our Lord is imperative to change in our lives. How about you? Do you have
the heart beat of God when it comes to his position on sin? Let us learn from our text today and the life of Saul to remember
that if we want to stay away from sin we must have a have a true change of heart.

Teaching: A Foreign Land Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text
to help us grow in the Lord. Today we continue with 1st Samuel chapter 27. In our text today we see David being led to foreign
land to find refuge from Saul. In making application we see how the Lord leads us to times of waiting in foreign land as he
orchestrates the details of His plan for our life. When the Lord has all the pieces in place then he brings us to our place
of service. It reminds me of a time in my life where the Lord called me into Ministry and I taught the Bible on the Radio
in a small radio station. I felt like no one was listening but what I didn't realize is that the Lord was having me serve
in a "Foreign Land" while He was preparing me for the next step in my life. How about you? Are you serving in a
"Foreign Land" while the Lord is orchestrating His plan for your life? Be encouraged and let us learn from our text
today that sometimes the Lord has us serve in a "Foreign Land" while He brings about His Plan for our life.
