Psalms 128 Commentary

(128:1-6) Obeying God's Word - A good family life is usually a reward for those who follow God. The values outlined in God's Word include love, service, honesty, integrity, self-sacrifice, and prayer. These help all relationships, and they are especially vital to home life. Is your home life heavenly or hectic? Reading and obeying God's Word together is a good place to start your family moving in the right direction.

Dave Burnette's Life Application

God's Plan

Each day we walk through the Bible chapter by chapter making an application of our text to help us grow in the Lord. Many applications can be made from each day's text. Today, we continue in the Book of Psalms with Chapter 128. In our text today, we see the theme of God being the head of the home and His Blessings in His Order. In making applications, we see the importance of following His Instructions for the home. Today, many try to change the structure of God's plan. Women's lib, humanism, and the new world order have their own plans for the home and family, and all are unfruitful in the results they produce. How about you? Do you see the unfruitful works of the world system on the family today? Let us learn from our Psalm and text today to remember that God has a plan and order for the family, and His Plan produces fruit and blessings for our lives.

Psalm 128

Psalm 128

1Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

2For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

3Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

4Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

5The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

6Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.
